We Provide Speech and Language Therapy in Pre-Schools Primary Schools, Secondary Schools and Specialist Provisions

After many years of working in the NHS, we realised that when it comes to speech and language therapy, there is no ‘one-size fits all’; everyone’s needs are individual and what works for one child or one school might not necessarily work for another.

At Speech4Schools, we offer a flexible approach and take pride in the support we provide. No question is too silly, and nothing is too much trouble when it comes to making a difference to a child.

How can we help you and your school?

Do you have pupils with SLCN? Speech4Schools is working in over 60 educational settings across Kent.

If you have pupils with Speech, Language and Communication needs (SLCN), we provide tailor-made and flexible support to suit your school’s needs.

Everything we do is tailored to ensure every penny goes towards addressing your school’s specific needs to create the changes you need and want to see.

Typically, we will come in and assess your pupils, and from this assessment, we will create unique written reports with progress targets. We will demonstrate specific tools and techniques to your staff that are relevant to your pupils' needs, and we can provide training when required. Your staff will be able to build on their skills and confidence to provide long-term support to your pupils.

All our therapists have enhanced DBS checks and safeguarding training, and we are fully insured.

What happens first?

Once parental consent has been gained, our Speech4Schools therapist can assess your priority pupils without delay.

The parent is usually invited into pre-school or school, and this enables a detailed case history to be taken. The therapist also speaks at length to the class teacher to gain a real insight into their concerns about the child. The therapist will have a wide range of formal and informal assessments to help them accurately identify the child’s difficulties. The therapist can also observe the child in class or at play to learn more about their specific difficulties and the impact these have.

The assessment results would then be written up in a professional, yet user-friendly way. The findings would be shared with all involved verbally as well as in the form of a written report. The child then begins their therapy or intervention, and their progress is reviewed by the therapist at a set time.

Our professional reports and evidence can help support SENCos to apply for various things, such as High Needs Funding or EHCPs.

Parents reaction

Why your school needs our help…

At Speech4Schools, we understand the struggles SENCos face, with SLCN difficulties affecting:

  • A child’s ability to learn
  • Social interaction and making friends
  • Joining in
  • Understanding and following instructions
  • How children thrive
  • Phonics and literacy development

You’ll already know that the impact of the pandemic means a SENCO’s growing caseload is increasingly complex.

We would like the opportunity to discuss how we can take the pressure off your team by providing early, targeted support. If we help your pupils now, it is likely to reduce the need for further interventions throughout a child’s school life, and this in turn can help school settings to save money.
